Here are a few fun things I’ve run across recently. They’ve either come in though various RSS feeds (a few through http://CreateDigitalMusic.com) and others from friends and co-workers.

* Thee first is an outdoor installation from HC Gilje. He says “The wind-up birds are a flock of mechanical woodpeckers, having found their first home in a forest in Lillehammer, Norway. Later they fly to Oslo Airport before they migrate to Morocco (as part of the Brussels biennale) for the autumn”

• Gregory Taylor was recently interviewed by Electronic Musician. I have the distinct pleasure of getting to work and converse with Gregory, and I’m always amazed at the breadth and depth of his experience, knowledge, and musicianship. The latest in his series on working with LFOs in Max is also available on Cycling ’74’s web site.

• A couple of interesting things related to sensor applications make for good reading. This includes Frightening fun with sensors, projectors, and Max/MSP, Software Programmer Dreams of New, Small Music Machines and Wiimote Hacked into Guitar for Mindbending, Accelerometer-based Effects. None of these are using Electrotap sensors, but the last one in particular could certainly benefit from the Teabox to get a more controlled and responsive controller. Even with the limitations of the Wii, this is a very effective demonstration that sidesteps around the limitations.

• And just for fun, Max/MSP (and Tap.Tools) user Daito Manabe has had a video making its way around the web for the last few weeks that is exactly the opposite of using sensors. Instead it’s using music to stimulate muscle movements in his face — great fun!
